5 Tips to get the most out of LawFest

LawFest is the one event of the year legal professionals should attend to discover how technology and innovation can impact them, their firms and their clients.

We have made some exciting changes tailored to the needs of lawyers, support staff and management from within law firms, corporate organisations and government agencies. We have new techtalks, tech demos, and an exciting new Annual LawFest debate, introducing a new event App to help delegates & sponsors interact.

I can tell you all about why you should attend, but I thought it might be helpful for me to provide a few tips to help you gain greater value from attending LawFest.

Download the App

This year we have a new event App. You’ll be able to check out the delegates and speakers, set your session schedule for the day, have your say in the event feed, and get involved in the exhibitor passport competition.

We encourage you to use the App to provide feedback on the speakers and provide us with feedback about the event generally. We really appreciate your feedback – what you liked, what you didn’t and areas that we can continue to evolve the event.

Throughout the day there will be important notifications, including some exciting giveaways. You can use the App to scan the QR codes of exhibitors that are participating in the LawFest passport, to go into draw to win two nights’ accommodation at the Langham.

You can download the App here for iPhone, or here for Android.

Have a game plan

The event should have something for everyone: from those new to technology, to those currently at the forefront of legal innovation, and everyone in-between. If you want to learn more about innovative practices and drive greater efficiency within your organisation, and ultimately drive profitability, then LawFest is for you.

After attending many legal technology events, I have realised the importance of having a plan of what you want to get out of the event. You may ask yourself –

  • What do I want to get out of LawFest?
  • What sessions do I want to see?
  • What exhibitors have solutions that interest me?
  • Do any have tech demos?

There are many choices in the exciting schedule, with the flexibility to change between the tracks. Have an idea of the topics and speakers you want to hear from, so you can devise a game plan prior to the day.

Make sure you arrive early. Registrations open at 8am, which is the same time the exhibition hall opens. This provides a good opportunity to meet some of the exhibitors prior to the start of the formal proceedings at 8.45.

Bring a colleague

Attending events alone can be daunting.

It doesn’t have to be this way as we have some great options for you to add additional tickets for your colleagues.

One of our new exciting options this year is the ‘Young legal professionals ticket’, which allows those under 25 to attend LawFest for just $199. This discounted ticket option is to encourage young legal professionals who may just be starting their career to attend New Zealand’s premier legal innovation and technology event, and to encourage them to champion adoption of technology within their firms and organisations.

Contact us today if you would like to register another colleague (or two!). We can provide some great last minute discounts to register multiple attendees.

Meet our exhibitors

Take the opportunity to meet with our exhibitors in our exhibition hall. They won’t bite!

We are excited to have triple the number of exhibitors this year in our newly expanded exhibition hall – all under the one roof, on the one day. LawFest is the only event in New Zealand that provides this unique opportunity to see the products and services of leading technology providers.

You may not get time to spend with all the exhibitors on the day (as there is a lot to see and do), then at least trade contact details so you can follow up further once you are back in the office. Even reach out prior to the event to arrange a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the exhibition hall.

Use the App and our website to find out more about our exhibitors.

Take full advantage of our ‘Meet the Exhibitors’ session, prior to the morning tea break. Premium exhibitors have 60 seconds to explain who they are, what they do and where they are for you to visit them. This is a great opportunity to identify who is most applicable to you, so you can make a point of speaking to those exhibitors at some point during the day.

Interact and join the fun

Are you on Twitter or LinkedIn? We’re discussing legal tech and the event on our Twitter and LinkedIn page. You can also look for and use hashtags #LawFestNZ and #LawFest2017 to get involved.

The event much more than just the great educational content. There are many opportunities to network through the day and to enjoy our hospitality at one of New Zealand’s most prestigious venues. Make sure you stay around for the networking drinks at the end of the day. This has always been a relaxed and enjoyable way to unwind and discuss the various happenings of the day.

Drop by the registration station throughout the day if you like us to introduce you to any of our speakers, sponsors, other delegates – or simply if you want to say hi !.

Hopefully these tips will help you get even greater value from attending LawFest.

Make sure you enjoy the day.
